Vientiane

Vientiane is the capital and the largest city of the country

Vientiane

Vientiane is home to the countries most famous cultural attractions. The real attraction of this sleepy city, however, is Vientiane's friendly, welcoming and fun loving people.

With a long term reputation of sleepy town, the Laotian capital is now waking up. In December 2009, Vientiane hosted the South East Asian (SEA) Games, one of the most prestigious sport events in the Greater Mekong Region with 3,000 attendees and in November 2010 celebrated its 450th anniversary while hosting the International Convention on Cluster Munitions Ban with 900 delegates. Gradually, the capital city is being more and more acquainted with the organization of regional and international size events.

Vientiane is home to many cultural attractions. Some of the most famous include the Patuxay Gate, the That Luang Stupa and Wat Sisaket, Ho Prakeo Temples, all of them almost located within a walking distance to each other. The town is currently building a new riverfront that will contrast subtly with the charming old part of the city, offering great venues for outdoor functions.

The Vientiane’s inhabitants are the capital’s key attraction: hanging out in the traditional restaurants or riverfront cafes and decks for a “Beer Lao” accompanied with a spicy papaya salad, packing the lanes of the local markets, or flirting very very late in the bars and nightlife venues.

Finally, Vientiane’s economic boom is very perceptible with the burgeoning of high class and signs of modernization in its consumption habits. The city and country at large enjoy one of the fastest GDP rate with corporate and business travel picking up.

Vientiane is connected in direct to Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kunming, Jinghong and Kuala Lumpur.

The Lao capital is the ideal playground and touch-base for zip lining, team building, scavenger or treasure hunts, conferences, large meeting, training sessions, French fine dining experiences at gentle cost and much much more. Give us a shout and see what we can do for you.
